Looking Back

Looking Back

On this day, September 11, 2010, nine years after the attack on this country that forever changed the lives of all of us, I feel like I should have something profound to say, something that adequately reflects what that day in history means to this nation and the world or what we have done as a nation and a world to heal the deep wounds inflicted on September 11, 2001. Or I should be able to offer some words of…

Sweet Dreams!

Sweet Dreams!

Today was my day “off”. That means that I was at home working, where I don’t have to dress like a grownup, rather than at school. I had a list of things to get done. At the end of this list was to write a blog post.I am trying to be more regular with posts. I have had several ideas running around in my head throughout this week so I was looking forward to concentrating on this effort.. Before I…

How Did We Get To Stone Hill Inn?

How Did We Get To Stone Hill Inn?

1. Though both Weber and I travelled a fair amount during our first marriages, neither of us had a honeymoon.DECISION: We would definitely have a honeymoon. 2. We wanted to go someplace that neither of us had been before. Had to be somewhere in the continental U.S. because we are responsible for and had to be easily available to the Offspring. We both preferred mountains to beaches. We have both been to the mountains in the western part of the…

Prom Night

Prom Night

Tonight is prom night. Tuxes have been rented, hair and make-up have been done. Dinner reservations have been made. A boutonniere was ordered – but Erin forgot to pick it up. Oh well, the night will go on. And, pictures have been taken . . . . . . and they have headed off for their big night. I expect them, and several others, back at the house sometime after midnight to continue the adventure of prom night. I’m glad…

Holiday Cheer

Holiday Cheer

As we approach Valentine’s Day, Christmas has faded into the distant past. And almost without notice, January has whizzed by. It is sad that life passes so quickly that once Christmas Day has past, its details are all but forgotten. Another thing that was gone immediately after December 25th was the bombarding of our Inboxes with enticing advertisements for “the perfect gift.” However, like with the retail stores, there were a few Internet stores that had great after Christmas sales…

White Christmas

White Christmas

Clothes, books, games, music, a lot of love and world peace occupy our Christmas wishes, but I think I can safely say that none of us was wishing for or dreaming of a white Christmas. Though I am proud to say that all of our holiday preparations were done before today, we did have plans for this day before Christmas and they did not include snow. . I had two services to sing for tonight. Erin had dinner plans with…

December Morning

December Morning

Though we are officially on vacation, our mornings of setting no alarm clock have not started quite yet. We left the house bright and early this morning for church and then a trip to Palestine (TX) to see a family friend. Despite the brightly shining sun, the air was definitely on the chilly side. I don’t know what the official temperature was outside at 7:15 this morning, but it was low enough that the car windshield was covered with a…

The Bigger Picture

The Bigger Picture

Despite the trials and tribulations of our trip to Delaware that I recounted yesterday, we did have a wonderful trip. Lewes is a quaint town full of friendly people. Everything necessary is within walking distance – except the AT&T store. We walked “uptown” for our morning coffee, strolled the streets visiting the unique shops, and spent the evenings walking to the beach and enjoying the beautiful architecture and gardens that line the streets. Below is a sampling of the sights…

Easing Into Assisi

Easing Into Assisi

All of my posts lately seem to begin with “it has been awhile since I last posted.” Every time I write those words I vow not to have to do it again. So far this year, I have not managed to live up to those promises. Several people have asked me when I am going to post pictures and comments from our trip to Italy. There are several reasons that it has taken me so long to do this. We…
