25/365-2 Caring

25/365-2 Caring

“Slaving Over A Hot Fire” Though there were many things that we should have done today, we shirked all of our adult responsibilities and spent the day celebrating a friend’s birthday by sitting outside talking, laughing, enjoying the perfect weather and roasting hot dogs over the fire pit.  It was a glorious day.  And what better way to show your wife that you care about her than by slaving over a hot fire roasting her a hot dog. Seriously, what…

24/365-2 Fresh Air

“Friday Afternoon” By the end of the day Friday, I was exhausted, too exhausted to concentrate on a photo so I recycled this one that I had taken earlier in the week.  It represents quite well the way I felt Friday afternoon.  As a further testament to how out of it I was, not only did I not take a new photo, I forget to post yesterday the one that I recycled.

19/365-2 Abandoned

“Abandoned Abstract” I actually took this photo yesterday.  Apparently what I abandoned today was any hope of getting a daily photo that I liked.  For whatever odd reason, this image speaks to me.  I think that it is its totally abstract nature and the possibility of seeing so much or so little in it. This shot was intended to be a simple shot of a leaf or two floating in a fountain, an exercise to practice with manual focus.  Because…

16/365-2 Reserved

“Reserved for Family” Some day’s photos are marked by creativity and some by pure reality.  Today’s is the latter.  This afternoon we celebrated the life of my dear friend who passed away suddenly on Sunday.  Though there was sadness and sorrow amidst us, there was also an abounding sense of love and joy because we had all been blessed by knowing this person. Today really brought home how significant the daily photo prompts can be.  Of all the beautiful moments…

10/365-2 A Doorway

“Knock, Knock…Who’s There?” Lucky for this one whose favorite thing to do these days is to run in and out and in and out and…. checking on the squirrels in the backyard, there is someone here to answer her when she knocks.

“Flower Power” We are slowly getting back into our normal routine.  Weber went back to school today, but it was a teacher workday – no kids; and, he got home a little earlier than usual.  Though I don’t officially start classes until the Tuesday aster MLK day, I did do a little school related work this morning.  I was glad to be able to work from home and not have to get out early this morning in the 13 degree…

4/365 – 2 A Little Bit – January Self Portrait

4/365 – 2 A Little Bit – January Self Portrait

“Here I Am” I think that at one time or another we all struggle with our self image.  This is a place where our own reality often differs from the reality seen by those around us, those who see us as a whole person  rather than as a series of disconnected imperfections. As a person with albinism, as one who looks different from most of society, this struggle has been extremely difficult at times.   In fact, it has taken…

2/365 – 2 Goals

2/365 – 2 Goals

“Embracing the Muse” In the past few years I have discovered a lot about myself,  some good things and some not so good things.  I have learned to embrace who I am and be the best that I can be by honoring both my strengths and my weaknesses.  Doing so has equipped me to extend the same love and respect toward others.  When you can love yourself despite shortcomings, it is much easier to love others despite your own perceived…

1/365-2 Celebrate

“Looking at 2014” If you’ve been following me here for any length of time, you know that when I began the CY365 photo project this time last year, I dreaded the fact that every month there was a self portrait.  I have always HATED having pictures of myself taken.  And to have to take them myself was just adding insult to injury.  After taking twelve such photos over the course of 2013, I am a little better about being in…
