18/365-2 Posed

18/365-2 Posed

‘Erin” I am terrible with posing people for shots.  I do OK with the stuff behind the camera but I am not comfortable posing people.  That is why I always have to rely on Erin when I need a people shot.  She is a natural in front of the camera.  Having said that, I have to confess that tonight I photographed Erin and Edgar together and didn’t do such a great job.  The light was weird and created some harsh…

11/365-2 In Good Hands

11/365-2 In Good Hands

“Book In Hands” Today was a beautiful day, nearly 70 degrees.  It would have been a great day to go somewhere and enjoy being outside.  Unfortunately, our daily agenda didn’t include any outdoor plans.  My morning began at the dentist getting my teeth cleaned.  Weber and I went out for breakfast afterwards and then I got my hair cut.  Even at that, the chores weren’t done.  I had to come home and finish making baptismal stoles for church tomorrow.  Then…

359/365 Christmas

359/365 Christmas

“Beethoven’s First” It is hard to believe that Christmas Day has come and gone already.  I’m not exactly sure how it all happened but I think everyone had a good day.  As far as Christmases go, we had a relatively low-key day.  That was OK with me. I learned one thing today.  My family is a bunch of serious enablers!  They all gave me great gifts, many of which will support my photography obsession journey.  I got everything from a new…

357/365 Jolly Ol’ St. Nick

357/365 Jolly Ol’ St. Nick

“Welcome to Adulthood” My baby turned 21 today.  I have successfully raised all of the offspring to adulthood. Is it time for retirement now? It is hilarious to me that the day’s prompt is St. Nick.  Erin despises Santa Claus, always has.  We have zero pictures of her on Santa’s lap.  And, we have zero ornaments or decorations depicting Santa.  Erin has always said that she believes Santa to be kind of creepy. Erin made her way into adulthood today…

332/365 Grateful for My Life

332/365 Grateful for My Life

“The Sweet Spot” I did a terrible job of photographing our Thanksgiving!  I didn’t even pick up my camera until almost all was said and done.  I’m not sure how that happened.  However, in many ways, this picture sums up our Thanksgiving fairly well. Erin appointed herself the mastermind of this year’s celebration.  We all gathered at the house in Denton.  This arrangement took a lot of pressure off of me – no major cleaning!  Erin assigned all of us…

326/365 Grateful for Wide Open Spaces

326/365 Grateful for Wide Open Spaces

“My Bundled Up Baby” Texas is full of wide open spaces but I wasn’t going to go in search of one of them to photograph today.  The weather here was cold and rainy and just plain yucky to be out in.  My baby did come see me tonight and I couldn’t resist taking a picture of her all bundled up for our first cold snap of the year.

308/365 Grateful for Harvest

308/365 Grateful for Harvest

“Harvesting the Brain” Took this one a few days (weeks?) ago for my baby the math nerd.  It will have to do for today.  It was a rainy gray day here and there was nothing being harvested.   I am grateful that the Lego mini figures always come to my rescue when my creativity is pretty much non-existent.

306/365 Grateful for Lessons Learned

306/365 Grateful for Lessons Learned

“Follow Your Dreams” I have learned many  many lessons in my lifetime, most of them the hard way.  The one that I value the most and the one that I wish that I had learned much earlier in life is to follow your dreams.  I have tried to teach that one to the girls.  Aren’t parents supposed to try to keep their children from making the same mistakes that they did?  I am happy to see the girls trying to…

304/365 Frightful

304/365 Frightful

“Second Generation Trick or Treater” This beautiful little girl is certainly not frightful.  What is frightening is that she is the daughter of one of Weber’s former middle school students.  You know you have been teaching a long time when you have “grand-students” who come trick-or-treating at your house. It was dark outside and she is a wiggly two-year old excited by Halloween so this is not a great photo.  I do kind of like the softness on her face….
