241/365 Fashion Statement

241/365 Fashion Statement

“Hell on Heels” We have already established here that I have no fashion sense.  Clothes at best are a necessity and are at worst an encumbrance.  Therefore, I knew that I was going to be searching for a willing participant to help me with today’s photo.  Brooke is definitely the one in our family who uses clothing to make a statement. We always kid her about her shoes.  She already towers over all of us by a couple of inches…

234/365 Abundant

“Lots of Loaves” The girls are trying to test their recipes in preparation for starting their own baking business.  For now they are taking orders from their friends.  Today Brooke made several kinds of mini loaves to offer as samples.  They look good and they smell really good but they don’t see the need to add a taste tester to their staff so I have not had any of today’s product.  Today’s breads are oatmeal and cinnamon raisin.  The truth is…

225/365 Remember

“Remembering Grandmother” Since Weber and I married late in life and both are only children, we have very little extended family.  My dad and his sister are it.  We have had to rely on stories and photos to share our families with one another.  (In some cases this may be safer than the real thing!) Here Weber is holding a photo of himself and his grandmother taken many years ago.  He thinks that he looks a lot like her.

200/365 Two Scoops

“Frozen Family Fun” Today was one of those days when everyone was a willing participant in the daily photo.  After a nice vegetarian dinner at home, prepared by Brooke, we headed to our local frozen yogurt shop for two scoops – each.  Mine is the one in the front – cake batter and cappuccino yogurt topped with reese’s peanut butter cups and graham cracker crumbs.  Yum!

194/365 Stacked

Rather than today’s picture of the day being the first in the series as is usually the case here, today it will be the last one.  You’ll have to make it through this series of pictures, imagining some missing parts, to fully appreciate the ending.Once upon a time there was a panicked bride.  On the Wednesday before the Saturday she was getting married, the source for her wedding cake informed her that she would not be able to make her…

188/365 Seven

“Order Number 7” Offspring No. 1 is the least helpful of my family members when it comes to being the subject of one of my pictures of the day.  Today she had no choice.  We went out for dinner and our order number was seven.  Because she is not in many of my photos, she got the honor of holding our table tracker in front of the camera.  You can tell from the expression on her face that she was…

183/365 Whiskers

“Discount Whiskers” What is it about beards that they are the first thing to go gray?   Weber’s gray beard is good for getting us senior discounts from (very young) food service workers.  Some of these discounts he, not me, is eligible for, others not so much.  His whiskers look even lighter here because they are lit by the screen on his laptop.

Patience in Purple” Weber got a new computer today.  He and the cat waited somewhat patiently as data migrated from the old one to the new one. And here is a shot of tonight’s “super moon.”  Unfortunately, I waited until it was dark so there is no context within which to see just how big the moon really is.  I may have to try again tomorrow.

171/365 Sparkle

“Afternoon Sparkle” Bokeh is just one of the magical things about photography.  It is an awesome effect that can transform an ordinary photo into a stunning image.  This photo is purely a technical one.  The composition, our newly blooming crepe myrtle, is nothing spectacular, but the bokeh does make the background kind of sparkle. While I was outside “playing” this afternoon, the sparkle in my rings caught my attention.  I decided to photograph this sparkle as well.   My mom…
